At first, she thought it was so scary to become a mother, but now she’s feeling like her whole life starting over.
The Oscar winner is featured in the October issue of Vogue and spoke to the magazine about her new world after welcoming her baby Cy in February. The interview marked the first time Lawrence has publicly shared her son’s gender or name with her husband Cook Maroney.
“It’s such a scary thing to talk about motherhood,” Lawrence said. “Just because it’s so different for everyone. If I say, ‘It was amazing from the start,’ some people will think, ‘It wasn’t amazing for me at first,’ and they’ll feel bad.”
Jennifer Lawrence said that before giving birth, some of her friends told her that she might experience some negative feelings and not feel immediately connected to her child.
“Fortunately, I have so many girlfriends who have been honest. Who said, ‘Is this terrible? You might not connect right away. You might not fall in love right away. So I felt so ready to forgive… with me.” I remember the words. A good friend of mine, like, nine months later, and it’s like, ‘Everyone keeps saying I would love my baby more than my cat.’
But that’s not true. Maybe I love him as much as I love my cat?'” Jennifer Lawrence said. But that wasn’t the case for Lawrence.
“My heart is being pulled into an ability I didn’t know about. I include my husband in this… The morning after giving birth, it’s like my whole life has started all over again. Like, now my day is the first.” Life is a crying baby in a restaurant and I’m like, ‘Awwww.
